Beam Clamps

Bolt-Up Beam Clamps That Reduce Hot Works and Installation Downtime

Skopit Beam Clamps are designed for industrial, mining and construction environments where welding to existing steel is costly, restricted or impractical.

Our beam clamp system provides a practical bolt-up alternative to welded supports, allowing pipe supports, brackets, cable trays and other service supports to be attached to existing structural steel without the need for hot works.

For many sites, this can help reduce installation time, simplify site approvals, minimise shutdown requirements and lower the overall cost of getting support systems installed.

A Practical Alternative

A Practical Alternative To Welded Supports

Traditionally, adding supports to existing steel structures often involves welding brackets or supports directly to beams, columns or other structural steelwork.

While this method is common, it can create additional site requirements, including hot work permits, fire watch procedures, safety controls, shutdown planning and extra labour.

Skopit Beam Clamps offer an alternative approach.

Instead of welding to the existing structure, the beam clamp is designed to secure around the beam or column flange, creating a strong fixing point for support systems without modifying the steel through welding.

This makes the system particularly useful for existing plants, mine sites, processing facilities, workshops, infrastructure projects and industrial sites where reducing hot works is a priority.

Why Reduce Hot Works?

Hot works can add time, cost and risk to a project.

Welding, cutting and grinding may require additional permits, supervision, safety procedures and shutdown planning. In some environments, hot works may also be heavily restricted due to fire risk, hazardous materials, production requirements or site access limitations.

By using a bolt-up beam clamp system, sites may be able to reduce or avoid some of these issues.

Key benefits can include:

  • Reduced need for welding to existing steel structures
  • Less reliance on hot work permits
  • Faster installation compared with welded support methods
  • Reduced downtime during maintenance or upgrade works
  • Less disruption to operating plant and equipment
  • Improved flexibility for temporary or permanent support requirements
  • Lower installation costs in suitable applications
Every site is different, so the exact savings will depend on the application, structure, access, load requirements and approval process. However, where welding is the expensive or difficult part of the job, a bolt-up clamp system can be a much smarter option.

Designed For Industrial

And Mining Applications

Skopit Beam Clamps are suited to demanding industrial environments where strength, reliability and practical installation matter.
They can be used across a range of industries, including:

Mining and Minerals Processing

Mining and Minerals Processing

Mining and processing sites often need to install pipe supports, cable tray supports, brackets and service mounts around existing plant, conveyors, walkways and structural steel.

In these environments, hot works can create additional risk, approval steps and downtime. Skopit Beam Clamps provide a bolt-up alternative that can help reduce the need for welding to existing structures, making them useful for shutdown works, maintenance upgrades and ongoing site modifications.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Water and wastewater treatment plants often require additional pipework, service supports, brackets and access-related modifications around existing infrastructure.

Because these sites may need to remain operational during upgrades or maintenance, reducing installation disruption is important. Skopit Beam Clamps can assist by allowing suitable supports to be fixed to existing steel without welding, helping reduce site interruption and simplify the installation process.

Oil and Gas Sites

Oil and Gas Sites

Oil and gas environments often have strict controls around hot works due to fire risk, hazardous materials and operational safety requirements.

Where suitable, a bolt-up beam clamp system can provide an alternative to welded support installation. This can help reduce permit requirements, minimise risk exposure and support safer installation of pipe supports, cable trays and service brackets within controlled industrial environments.

Industrial Plants and Workshops

Industrial Plants and Workshops

Industrial plants and workshops regularly need to add or modify support systems as equipment, services and workflows change.

Skopit Beam Clamps can be used to create fixing points on existing beams or columns without needing to weld directly to the steel. This makes them useful for practical upgrades, service changes, maintenance improvements and custom support requirements.

Construction and infrastructure projects

Construction and infrastructure projects

On construction and infrastructure projects, time on site matters. Delays caused by hot work approvals, access limitations or site coordination can quickly add cost.

A bolt-up support system can help speed up installation where suitable structural steel is available. Skopit Beam Clamps can be used for pipe supports, cable trays, mechanical services and other support applications where welding is not preferred or practical.

Power and energy facilities

Power and energy facilities

Power and energy sites often require careful planning around shutdown windows, safety procedures and live operational environments.

Skopit Beam Clamps can support installation work where reducing hot works and limiting operational disruption are priorities. The system can be useful for maintenance works, plant upgrades and supporting pipework or services on existing steel structures.

Processing and manufacturing sites

Processing and manufacturing sites

Processing and manufacturing facilities often need to keep production moving while maintenance or upgrade work is carried out.

Because welding can create downtime, safety controls and scheduling issues, a bolt-up beam clamp system can be a practical alternative. Skopit Beam Clamps can help support new services, pipework and brackets while reducing disruption to the existing site.

Common Applications

Skopit Beam Clamps can be used to create secure fixing points for a variety of support systems and site requirements.

Common applications include:

Pipe Supports
Used to support pipework where welding to existing steel is not ideal, restricted or too costly. This can be particularly useful during plant upgrades, shutdowns and retrofitting works.
Pipe Saddles
Pipe saddles can be attached using the beam clamp system to provide support and restraint for pipework without needing to weld directly to the structure.
Cable Tray Supports
Electrical and communications cable trays often need to be added to existing steelwork. Beam clamps can provide a practical fixing point without drilling or welding into the main structure.
Mechanical Service Supports
Mechanical services often require additional brackets, mounts or supports as plant layouts change. A bolt-up system allows these supports to be added with less site disruption.
Electrical service supports
For electrical upgrades and service runs, beam clamps can help create fixing points for brackets and supports while reducing the need for hot works in controlled site areas.
Brackets and mounted support systems
Custom brackets and support systems can be designed around the beam clamp, allowing equipment or services to be mounted to existing structures.
Temporary or permanent industrial supports
The system can be suitable for temporary project works or permanent installations, depending on the application, load requirements and engineering approval.
Custom fabricated support solutions
Where a standard support does not suit the project, Skopit’s fabrication experience allows custom support solutions to be developed around the site requirements.

Proven in Industrial and Mining Applications

BHP Coal Mine — Dust Suppression Curtain Support

Skopit installed a structural support frame for a rubber dust suppression curtain over a vibrating screen at a BHP coal operation in Central Queensland.

The support frame was mounted directly to existing structural steel using the Skopit Beam Clamp system, removing the need for welding or hot works during installation.

Because no hot works were required, the plant supervisor was able to issue the work permit faster than usual, helping reduce installation delays and operational impact.

The system also performed reliably in a high-vibration environment on the vibrating screen structure.

Key outcome:

Reduced hot works, faster permit approval and reliable support in a high-vibration plant environment.

“John from Skopit came to me with these certified rated beam clamps, all we had to do was make them applicable to our project. Great outcome, no hot works.”

Tom Williamson, GRM Project Engineer

BHP Coal Mine — Dust Suppression Nozzle Installation

Skopit Beam Clamps were used to install high-pressure dust suppression nozzles over a vibrating screen at a BHP Central Queensland coal mine.

The installation was completed by plant workers who were not tradespeople, with the beam clamp and nozzle able to be bolted into position easily and quickly.

This highlights the practical value of the system for site teams needing a simple bolt-up solution where welding is not preferred or required.

Key outcome:

Fast, practical installation by plant personnel without the need for trade-based welding work.

BHP Mine Site — Portable Building Hold-Down Supports

A BHP mine site engineer in Central Queensland ordered 100 Skopit Beam Clamps to secure portable buildings to concrete footings.

The building floor supports were I-beams sitting on concrete strip footings. With limited welding trades available, and the opportunity to avoid hot works such as welding, drilling and grinding, Skopit Beam Clamps provided a practical rated solution.

The engineer noted they could not find another option on the market with the required load rating.

Key outcome:

Rated beam clamps used to secure portable building supports while avoiding hot works and reducing installation time.

“The extra benefit was confined space permit was not required because no hot works were performed, total install ½ a day.”

Brad McKenzie, Projects Lead

South32 Cannington Mine — Davit Arm Installation

South32 Cannington Mine in Western Queensland ordered two davit arms and four Skopit Beam Clamps for the mobile maintenance workshop.

The rotating davit arms were installed to keep electrical leads and high-pressure hoses off the ground, helping reduce trip hazards in the workshop area.

The installation was completed quickly using Skopit Beam Clamps. The system also allowed the davit arm height to be adjusted by loosening the clamps and repositioning the assembly as required.

Key outcome:

Quick installation of adjustable davit arms to improve workshop safety and reduce hose and lead trip hazards.

“We were able to move the davit arm up by loosening the clamps, to the height we required.”

Peak Downs Mine — Pipe Hanging Kits

Skopit supplied 70 beam clamps and pipe hanging kits to Walz Construction for a project at Peak Downs Mine.

The beam clamps and pipe hanging kits were used for pipe support installation where load ratings were an important project requirement.

This project demonstrates how the Skopit system can support larger pipework applications where rated support points and practical installation are critical.

Key outcome:

Beam clamps and pipe hanging kits supplied for a mine site pipe support project where load ratings were critical.

“I would definitely use Skopit product again, especially for large diameter pipelines where load ratings are critical.”
